# API Keys & Credits

> Generate API keys, track credit usage, and integrate Jsmon programmatically

The **API** tab in Settings lets you generate API keys for programmatic access and monitor your credit consumption.

## API Keys

API keys allow you to interact with Jsmon programmatically — trigger scans, retrieve results, and integrate with your existing security toolchain.

### Generating an API Key

#### Navigate to Settings → API

Open Settings and click the **API** tab.

#### Create New Key

Click **Generate API Key**. A new key is created and displayed once.

#### Copy and Store Securely

Copy the key immediately — it will not be shown again. Store it in a secure location like a password manager or secrets vault.

Treat your API key like a password. Never commit it to version control or share it publicly. If compromised, revoke it immediately and generate a new one.

### Managing API Keys

| Action | Description |
| - | - |
| **Copy** | Copy the key value to your clipboard |
| **Revoke** | Permanently deactivate the key |
| **Regenerate** | Create a new key (the old one is automatically revoked) |

## Credit Tracking

| Metric | Description |
| - | - |
| **Total Credits** | Your plan's monthly allocation plus any add-on credits |
| **Used Credits** | Credits consumed so far this billing cycle |
| **Remaining Credits** | Credits still available |
| **Reset Date** | When your plan credits refresh (add-on credits don't reset) |
